Green tea has been a cultural and societal delicacy in Morocco since the 1800’s. It is one of the biggest importers in Morocco. Preparing the tea includes combining a lump of hard sugar with some fresh mint. First, water is boiled. Then the green tea is added and steeped in order to be purified. After, the sugar and mint are mixed into the tea. Tea houses throughout Morocco are quiet places where people can appreciate the tea and spend a calm afternoon thinking. Tea is also served in the home, and families enjoy the tea together. As you can see, the difficulties of making this precious tea come with great rewards!
